2012 Bethel Heights Pinot Noir Æolian Estate – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola – Amity Hills (3/7/2019)
Day 1: Celery, minerals, under ripe cranberries, floral and spice. Short to medium finish. Very light in style. Good acidity. Lacks personality though. 88 points
Day 2: A bit more open for business with floral, spice, cranberry, strawberries and damp earth. More concentrated today and more interesting. Very rustic finish. 89-90.
Day 3: Better on day 3. This wine needs time. Earth, floral, cranberry, fresh strawberries, mild smoke meats and sublet spices. Medium plus finish and nice concentration on this rustic finish. Big improvement from day 1. 91 points
Recommendation: Heavy decant or drink after 2021. (91 points)
This wine was not showing well on day 1 and got some muscle as time went on.
