Twin Cities Wine Club Washington State Wines

  • Great event Saturday night and wine of the night was the Sheridan Singularity.

  • 2014 K Vintners Viognier Art Den Hoed Vineyard – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley
Another solid showing of this wine with floral, orange slice, honey suckles and pear. Medium finish and good acidity. Enjoyed by the group.
    Recommendation: Drink now. (90 pts.)
  • 2014 SIXTO Chardonnay Uncovered – USA, Washington
While not Burgundy certainly not New World oak Chardonnay. Good use of oak with spice, floral, lemon and apple. Picks up some nice minerality on the medium plus finish. Balanced overall and based on the last sampling of this wine and its evolution I would say another 3 years plus of enjoyment.
Recommendation: I would hold these one to three years for peak enjoyment. (91 pts.)
  • 2010 Andrew Will Two Blondes Vineyard – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley
Cigar, earth, red currants, minerals and subtle spice. Fully integrated and certainly peaking. The group enjoyed it and the most Bordeaux like compared to the other wines sampled tonight.
    Recommendation: Drink now. (90 pts.)
  • 2013 L’Ecole No. 41 Apogée Pepper Bridge Vineyard – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
Big style with dark currants, oak, vanilla, minerals and spices. Concentrated and powerful. Medium to long finish. Decanted for 2 hours. Solid wine and needs time. 91-94.
Recommendation: Drink after 2021. (91 pts.)
  • 2012 Sleight of Hand Cabernet Sauvignon The Illusionist – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
Showing really well tonight with coffee beans, minerals, blueberries, plum and spice. Medium plus finish and very balanced. This wine has many years left in the tank. Decanted 2 hours.
Recommendation: Decant a few hours or hold for 2 to 3 years. (92 pts.)
  • 2008 Sleight of Hand Syrah Levitation – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
Bacon, black fruits, minerals, smoke and pepper. Good concentration and medium finish. Very balanced effort and hitting its peak.
Recommendation: Drink now to 2021. Might go longer but why risk it. (92 pts.)
  • 2008 Sheridan Vineyard Syrah Singularity – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley
Rockstar Wine! Big and powerful but balanced. Pepper, blueberries, Bing cherries, mineral, tar and earth. This is still an infant and could age another decade. Complex and multilayered finish. A benchmark Syrah for Washington. Did not decant this.
Recommendation: Drink now to 2029. (95 pts.)
  • 2015 K Vintners Syrah The Beautiful – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
Beautiful again. Very unique wine with floral, game, white pepper, licorice and minerals. Very concentrated wine and long finish. This show well again and was a top ten wine for me last year.
Recommendation: Drink now to 2024. (94 pts.)
  • 2014 Charles Smith Syrah Royal City – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
Bonus bottle from Sherry and Joe. Thanks! Black olives, minerals, subtle fruit, tar and spice. Not a big wine on the pop and pour but I will assure you this will benefit with age. I think the reward will be big. 93-96.
Recommendation: Hold. Drink 2022 and beyond. 93+ (93 pts.)
