- This wine was not good on a pop and pour which is what most wine drinkers base their experience. Be patient and sometimes you will get more enjoyment out of your wine!
- 2018 Januik Chardonnay Cold Creek Vineyard – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (2/5/2021)
Day 1: Extremely light in color. Looks like a Pinot Grigio. A bit disjointed. Mild oak, saline, grapefruit and spice. Lacks complexity and not what I normally expect from Cold Creek. See back on day 2,3. 87 points
Day 1.5: Much improved. Floral, orange peel, mild oak, lemon and pie crust. Medium finish and good acidity. 90 points
Day 2: More vibrant on the nose and features shells, orange peel and spice. On the palate more complex than the initial tasting. Grapefruit, shells, lemon, orange peel, a touch of oak, minerals and mild spices. Very elegant Chardonnay and very refreshing. Look forward to day 3 on this one. 91 points
Day 3: A little less impressive than day 2 with shells, orange peel, dust and tropical fruit. Very refreshing Washington State Chardonnay. 89 points
Recommendation: I would hold these for 3 to 4 years. (91 points)
