TN: 2016 K Vintners The Boy

  • This is such a unique wine. While the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon trophy drinker would not understand this wine the serious wine geek gets it. Super floral for a Grenache wine. Great acidity and balance. As the number one promoter of K Vintners wines in the Midwest I highly recommend visiting their locations in Washington State when things settle down. My brother is in their wine club and the tasting they did for us was above and beyond when we visited their Walla Walla Tasting Room in 2019. Here are the samplings of the 2016 K Vintners “The Boy”

  • 2016 K Vintners The Boy – USA, Washington (2/12/2021)
Day 1: Very light in color. Super fragrant featuring rose petals, orange peels, spice and raspberries. I could see where some would be not for me but I like this wine. Medium finish and good acidity. 92 points (92 points)
  • 2016 K Vintners The Boy – USA, Washington (4/24/2020)
Day 1: Had this at the winery last summer which those are always a snap shot of a wine. Wow! What a sexy wine with Garrique, white pepper, stone, dust, rose petals, green olives and boysenberries. Medium plus finish and gorgeous wine. This is a great example of what Washington State can do with Grenache. From the Powerline Vineyard. If you like Cayuse this is a fraction of the cost. Picked up for $19.99 on sale!
Day 2: Still rocking. Stone, white pepper, dust, rose petals and green olives. A really good New World representation of CDP. Lovely. 94 points
Day 3: Holding true to form and a bit more pepper and floral. Outstanding wine. 94 points
    Recommendation: Buy! (94 points)

K Vintners & Sixto & Substance Tasting; 6/18/2019-4/26/2020 (Walla Walla Tasting Room): Another great Grenache wine from Washington State. Fragrant wine with Garrique, stone, raspberries, earth and dust. While not a Southern Rhone wine it certainly has some similar characteristics. Drink now to 2025. (92 points)
