Result of a Crush Tasting Notes 2022

2018 Result of a Crush The Unnamed Series Grenache Blanc / Viognier
 – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (1/11/2023)
Day 1: Even better than at the tasting room in Walla Walla. Stone, orchard fruit, floral, flint, spice and chalky earth. This is an amazing effort for the price. One of the better Rhone White Blends I have tasted from the US. 92+ points

2016 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (12/21/2022)
Day 1: It is cold in MN and normally I don’t like wines at 55 out of the passive cellar but this is working. Black pepper, funky, spice, dark fruits and violets. This is a great effort and in the past 90 points. Not now. 92 points
Day 2: Still very nice but again if you have the chance between 16 and 17 back up the truck on the 17. Funk, black pepper, mild spice, dark fruits and floral notes. Again very well made wine and certainly worth the $25 with shipping. 90 points
Recommendation: Drink these now. (92 points)
2018 Result of a Crush Syrah Christmas Cuvée – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (12/14/2022)
Day 1: Well, this is an amazing effort. Concentrated wine to a T. Smoked Bacon, dark fruits, mild funk, black pepper and tar. Super complex and long finish. A true winner. Not sure how these other posters are not going higher on this wine but some associate price with a score and I don’t. 93 points
Day 2: Truly a pop and pour and drink right away. Later in day 1 not as good and day 2 not as good. Spice, smoke, blue currants, earth and tar. Lacks the amazingness of the pop and pour. 88 points
Day 2.5: Better with smoked meats, spice, tar, black pepper, dark fruits and earth. Amazing how wines improve over 72 hours and this is no exception. 91 points
Day 3: Wonderful transformation and shows less intensity than day 1 but plenty of complexity here. Black pepper, smoked ribs, spice, earth, blue fruits, mild smoke and tar. Medium plus finish and quite balanced. 92 points
Recommendation: Day 1 was the best on the pop and pour but day 3 was a nice surprise. I would drink these through 2025. (93 points)
2015 Result of a Crush Red Wine – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (12/8/2022)
Day 1: Like balance Syrah. You have come to the right place. Roasted meats, black pepper, smoke, dark currants, minerals and rose petals. Concentrated and still showing plenty of long-term potential. An outstanding everyday wine for $24.60 shipped to my door. 92 points
Day 1.5: Even better later. Black olives, roasted meats, black pepper, dust, exotic spices, bell peppers, minerals and dark currants. Super complex wine and off the charts value. 93 points
Day 2: This is not a day 2 wine. Drink it up on day 1. Black olives, pepper, spices, muted fruit and a bit thin. This might age but not over a few days. 87 points
Recommendation: I would not risk long term aging even though the day 1 showed great promise. Drink now. (93 points)
2017 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (12/3/2022)
Twin Cities Wine Club Washington State Bordeaux & Syrah Tasting (Edina, MN): Wine of the night for me and 2nd in the flight of Syrah wines beating out Reynvaan and Cayuse. Olives, stone, white pepper, funk and red currants. This wine has slammed dunked wine of the year for 3 Day Wine Review! Off the charts for $24.60 my friends. 95 points (95 points)
2016 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/29/2022)
Day 1: These are drink now wines. This is not the 17 or 19 that will rival any Reynvaan from that vintage on cellaring. This is light and lacks the complexity of those vintages. Iron, spice, bramble, red meat and pepper. Some nice fruit and there is nothing wrong with this wine but when you are comparing this to those two vintages it is kind of boring. 90 points (90 points)
2017 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/23/2022)
Day 1: So slam dunk wine of the year. Off the charts good. Green olives, stone, white pepper, dust, floral, minerals and red currants. Complexity overload on a $25 wine. Long finish and nice acidity. 94 points
Day 2: Nice rustic feel to the wine featuring bramble, white pepper, green olives, dust, stone, mushrooms and rose petals. Super complex and long finish. An amazing effort. 94 points
Recommendation: Buy at $25 and get a case or more and you will not be disappointed. (94 points)
2020 Result of a Crush Christmas Cuvée – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/21/2022)
Day 1: One bottle stellar and 2nd not as good. This one is in-between. Too many better wines from them and this was offered as part of their club membership and then you can order what you want. Black pepper, soy, dust, tar, minerals and dark currants. There is nothing wrong with this wine at all but it pales in comparison to the 2017 and 2018 Syrah. 90 points
Day 2: This is still solid but again pales in comparison to the other wines. Tar, black pepper, spice, peppercorn, soy and dark fruits. Could use a bit more acidity to balance out the wine as it is heavy. 89 points
Recommendation: If you join the club you might get 4 of these but the other wines will make up for this and you will be able to order whatever you want so a small sacrifice. (90 points)
2018 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/17/2022)
Day 1: This is off the charts! How can we have a wine that is $25 with shipping at this level? Simple Walla Walla. Black olives, funk, stone, floral notes, sour cherry and minerals. Medium plus finish and super complex. This might be better than the 2017. 94+ points
Day 2: Solid again and a screaming clone of the much more expensive Reynvaan wines. Black olives, tar, stone, sour cherry, mild funk, rose petals and minerals. Super complex wine and love them! 94 points (94 points)
2017 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/13/2022)
Day 1: Wow again! Black olives, tar, minerals, blueberries, spice, earth, iodine and white pepper. When I say this is the winery of the year, I mean this is the winery of the year! Not many bigger promoters of Walla Walla then myself and why this wine only sells for $25 a bottle with shipping is beyond me but that is probably why I have order 4 cases in the last month! 94 points
Day 2: Stunning again and wine of the year front runner for sure. White pepper, minerals, stone, blueberries, tar, black olives, graphite and mild smoke. Super complex finish and long. This is off the charts and no other wine on the planet can match this for $25 and I have tasted a lot. 94+ points (94 points)
2019 Result of a Crush The Unnamed Series Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/12/2022)
Day 1: Another stellar showing with minerals, dust, mild funk, floral, blueberries, cherry and earth. Very complex wine and medium to long finish. 93 points
Day 2: Not nearly as good and really this is a pop and pour wine.
Recommendation: Drink these now to 2026 for maximum enjoyment. No need to decant. Mixed results on day 1 and 2 with the 3 I have sampled. (93 points)
2015 Result of a Crush Red Wine – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/10/2022)
Day 1: Of all the Result of a Crush Wines I have sampled this is the most balanced and approachable. Pepper, iodine, red currants, minerals, spice and tar. Good acidity and medium plus finish. No one is guessing $25 a bottle on this. Amazing. 93 points
Day 2: Reynvaan written all over this wine. Green olives, spice, tar, minerals, black pepper, underbrush and violets. Medium plus finish and super concentrated wine. Drinking really well on day 2. 93.5 points
Recommendation: Buy! $25 a bottle and this has another 5 plus years of pure enjoyment.
80% Syrah/20% Grenache (93 points)
2019 Result of a Crush The Unnamed Series Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/8/2022)
Day 1: Gravel, blueberries, spices, menthol, stone and floral notes. Complex and medium plus finish. Not getting much oak and that works for me as this is a very balanced effort. 92 points
Day 1: 2nd glass getting a little funk which I love. Very Bordeaux like and one of the better imitations from the New World.
Day 2: Even better. Blueberries, cassis, minerals, stone, tobacco, stone and roasted Chesnuts. This is an amazing effort and worthy of a case purchase. You will not be upset that you did. 93 points (93 points)
2016 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/8/2022)
Day 1: Well this is the least interesting Result of a Crush wine I have sampled over this past year. Not even close to the 17, 18 or 19. Very flat overall. Stone, floral, some spice and light red currants. Shorter finish and hopefully will improve on day 2 but this is not very good. 83 points
Day 1.5: Well what a difference a few hours makes. Never give up on a wine. Much better with clay, stone, white pepper, menthol, roasted meats and red currants. Medium plus finish and complex wine. These wines continue to amaze. 90 points
Day 2: Good but not a great effort like the 17 and 19. Earth, dust, red currants and black olives. Lacks the concentration I am looking for but for $24 a great value. 90 points
Recommendation: Skip this vintage and go 17 and 19. (90 points)
2016 Result of a Crush Claret – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/6/2022)
Day 1: Wow! Bordeaux like featuring blueberries, gravel, spice, floral and exotic spices. Complexity overload again on these wines. Many won’t buy these because they are $25 even though nothing in the world as good as them at that price. 93 points (93 points)
2017 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/4/2022)
Day 1: Exotic spices, sweet bell peppers, black pepper, earth, black olives, tar and roasted meats. Outstanding on the pop and pour and super complex wine. As good as the last bottle. 93 points
Day 2: This is the closest to an actually Reynvaan wine you can get without spending $75. Very few would know the difference in a blind tasting. Black olives, spices, tar, roasted meats, violets, earth and stone. Concentrated wine with a really long finish. Complexity overload for $25. 94+ points
Day 3: By far the best of the 18 and 19 in comparison. Holding outstanding form on day 3. Black olives, dust, tar, roasted meats, violets, earth, stone, blueberries, red currants and white pepper. Super long finish and wine of the year almost for sure. Reynvaan wine for $25 for sure. 95 points
Recommendation: I just ordered 8 more so have at it. (95 points)

  • 2019 Result of a Crush The Unnamed Series Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/4/2022)
Day 1: Right off the UPS truck and rocking. Gravel, cherry, blueberries, rose petals, spice, dust and graphite. This is amazing and one of the best Result of a Crush wines sampled. 93 points
Day 2: Gravel, minerals, cherry, raspberries, rose petals, earth and graphite. Good use of oak and complex offering for the price. Top 10 wine for sure in the under $30 but might make it in general. 93 points
Day 3: Not as good and features more of a fruit forward approach. This truly is a drink now type of wine. I would drink through 2026. 89 points
Recommendation: A simple buy. WS 94 points and I totally agree with their score. This is a gem for $25. Drink now to 2026. (93 points)
  • 2019 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/3/2022)
Day 1: Rock on with this wine. Green olives, spice, strawberry, stone, white pepper and savory roasted meats. Medium plus finish. The complexity for a $25 wine is overwhelming. 93 points
Day 2: Stone, green olives, spice, dust, roasted meats, floral and earth. Super complex effort and amazing these wines are $25. Buy! 92 points
Day 3: Not as good as day 1 but still solid. Pepper, green olives, strawberry, spice, roasted peppers and earth. Even on day 3 a stellar price but day 1 wins. 90 points
Recommendation: Pop and pour and enjoy on day 1. This will drink well through 2030 and some aging will be recommended. (93 points)
  • 2020 Result of a Crush Christmas Cuvée – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/2/2022)
Day 2: A Band-Aid aroma and taste which is hard to get by on this particular bottle. Black pepper, dark cherries, menthol, earth and dark chocolate. This is not as pleasing as the previous bottle. Not flawed but just not what I am looking for. Really my first bad Result of a Crush Bottle. 84 points
Day 3: Better although not to the form of the other bottle. Black pepper, mild funk, charcoal, dark chocolate and damp leaves. Picks up some spice on the finish. 87 points
Recommendation: Flip a coin as one bottle was good and this one not so much. (87 points)
  • 2018 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (10/29/2022)
Day 1: This is singing out of the bottle. Roasted peppers, red meat, black pepper, olives, stone, raspberries, floral and earth. One would never guess blind this is a $25 bottle. 94 points
Day 2: Not as good but still solid. Gravel, black olives, red meat, smoke, floral and red currants. Medium plus finish. 92 points (94 points)
  • 2018 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (10/28/2022)
Day 1: Amazing hardly any reviews on this wine. Wonderful again with spice, green olives, tar, dust, minerals and red currants. This is off the charts good and $25 a bottle. 93 points (93 points)
  • 2019 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (10/27/2022)
Day 1: Roasted meats, iron, spice, raspberries, dust, blueberries and earth. Very sold wines and third bottle tasted with consistent results. 92 points
Day 2: Still solid with roasted meats, spice, blueberries, tar, iron and floral notes. Again, really well made for a $25 bottle. Not much better in the world. 92 points
Recommendation: You like Rhone wines from Washington then this is you cup of tea. (92 points)
  • 2018 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (10/25/2022)
Day 1: Wonderful an hour in with black olives, stone, clay, minerals, red currants and exotic spices. Complex wine and no other wine I have tasted under $30 this year is on this level. 94 points

  • 2019 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (10/24/2022)
Day 1: Similar to the last bottle with matchstick, white pepper, dark berries, minerals, stone and floral notes. Very good wine for the money. Highly recommended. 92 points
Day 2: This is very good but not as intense as day 1 hence the lower score. Stone, white pepper, minerals, blueberries, blackberries and floral notes. Picks up a green olive vide on the finish. Excellent value. 91 points (92 points)
  • 2020 Result of a Crush Christmas Cuvée – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (10/22/2022)
Day 1: This wine has opened up over the last hour. Mint, spices, graphite, smoke, raspberries, stone and pepper. Medium plus finish. This will improve on day 2 no doubt. 90 points
Day 2: Funk, mushrooms, spice, smoke, pepper, graphite and stone. This is a wonderful improvement from day 1 and quite complex. Outstanding. 92 points
Day 3: More mellow then day 1 and 2 but still excellent. Black olives, white pepper, spice, red currants, smoke, mild funk and tar. Medium finish. 92 points
Recommendation: Can’t believe these are under $25 shipped to my door. (92 points)
  • 2018 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (10/21/2022)
Day 1: This is singing and just off the UPS truck. It is a myth that wines need time from transited. Older bottles or Champagnes yes but newer bottles with over 100 notes and then 100 later no worries on these younger wines. Medium purple. This is complex like the bigger brother Reynvaan wines and for $25 a bottle one of the top wines of the year for the money. Black olives, dust, white pepper, spice, minerals, roasted meats and red currants. Medium to long finish and complexity is off the charts. 93 points
Day 2: This is not as good but solid on day 2. Green olives, dust, minerals, earth, white pepper and red currants. Not as intense as day 1 but not complaining. 91 points
Day 3: So, this is off the charts on day 3. Even better than day 1. Black olives, spice, roasted meat, stone, red currants, minerals, graphite and spices. Medium plus finish. No wine this year under $25 is on this level. Classic this wine is under $30 so it can’t be this good. Wrong! Might be my wine of the year candidate. 94 points
Recommendation: I am buying a case of this and will regret promoting this as I will want more cases down the road. (94 points)
  • 2019 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (10/21/2022)
Day 1: 100% Syrah. Unique nose of matchstick, charcoal, green olive, black pepper, dust, blue fruits and exotic spices. This is amazing stuff. Complex and long finish. I am thinking 1/3 of my cellar will be Result of Crush Unnamed Series wines very quickly. Thanks to Trevor M. for suggesting a tasting room visit. 92+ points
Day 2: Holding up on day 2 better than the 18. Matchstick, charcoal, green olive, black pepper, dark fruits, spices and tar. This is concentrated wine more similar to an Aussie Shiraz than the elegance of Reynvaan. I like both styles and this should drink well for another decade. 92+ points
Recommendation: Drink now to 2032. (92 points)
  • 2019 Result of a Crush Syrah Christmas Cuvée – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (7/18/2022)
2nd time drinking this wine in less than a week. Bramble, floral, white pepper, earth and stone. Very good. (91 points)
  • 2017 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (7/17/2022)
Day 1: This is as good as it gets for Washington State Syrah under $30. Meet with them on Friday and this is not a declassified wine from Reynvaan but barrels that are not quite good enough for their label. Rocks funk. floral, black olives, stone and earth. Super complex wine and long finish. $28 full retail. Wow! 93 points
Day 2: This is off the charts good. The dry weather in Walla Walla was messing with my nose but this cleared that up. Super fragrant with rocks funk, pepper, floral, black olives, red currants and earth. Super complex wine for under $30. How these wines were every offered on Full Pull in the post is beyond me. 93 points
Recommendation: Get two cases as you will be mad you only bought one. (93 points)
  • 2019 Result of a Crush The Unnamed Series Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (7/15/2022)
A blend of 42% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc. Expressive nose and this wine features redcurrants, minerals, mild spice, floral and earth notes. Balanced wine and medium plus finish. One of the better Bordeaux Blended wines I have tasted from Washington in some time. (92 points)
  • 2019 Result of a Crush Syrah Christmas Cuvée – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (7/15/2022)
