So many people try a wine once, hate it and never revisit. While I am the foremost expert in the world on the 3 day wine approach, maybe I should rebrand and do the 3 year wine approach.
I bought the 2014 Ghost Hill Cellars in 2018 from WTSO for $17.99. Hated it then and the 2nd bottle was corked which WTSO has the best customer service ever and took care of me on that bottle. I wanted to open something under $20.00 and was looking to use a Pinot Stem so here is the pleasant surprise!
- 2014 Ghost Hill Cellars Pinot Noir Bayliss-Bower Vineyard – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton (2/25/2021)
Day 1: This is better than the last bottle. Strawberry, forest floor, mint, floral and earth. Decant wine on this showing. 87 points
Day 2: This wine needs more time. It is really solid on day 2. Mushrooms, strawberry, earth, spice and floral notes. Medium plus finish and good acidity. A day 2 success. 90 points
Recommendation: Patience! You never know if a wine needed more time and this one did! (90 points)
The Lesson Patience!!!
