A picture tells a thousand words!
Compare some of these elsewhere. There is some serious price differences out there from the major players. Some of the smaller operations might have even more price differences.
Here is a list of 20 sparkling wines I would avoid for the most part. The Mumm Rose is not even close to as good as the Mumm Brut Prestige.
G.H. Mumm “Cordon Rouge” Brut ($19.99) $56.99 at Haskell’s. Top Ten $49.99. While the price is right the quality is not.
NV G. H. Mumm & Cie Champagne Cordon Rouge Brut – France, Champagne (12/25/2018)
I give up on this wine. Mediocre is all I can say. The Mumm Brut Prestige is more interesting than this. Lemon, subtle spice, dough and chalk. A bitter finish. While Piper Heidsieck is crushing it on the N.V. side these guys need some help. Thank goodness I only paid $22 with tax and it is not even worth that. (85 points)
Dom Perignon($134.99) at Haskell’s $159.99, Total Wine $135.97
Argyle Brut ($17.99) at Total Wine $21.49, France 44 $22.99
Piper Heidsieck ($29.99) (personal fav) Total Wine $37.99, Haskell’s $52.99
Laurent Perrier ($32.99) at Haskell’s $49.99,
NV Laurent-Perrier Champagne La Cuvée – France, Champagne (12/22/2018)
Excellent. Creamy with spice, floral, dough and sour apples. This is complex and an outstanding NV Champagne. Highly recommend. (91 points)
Laurent Perrier Rose ($63.99) at France 44 $99.99
Chandon Brut ($12.99) at Total Wine $15.47, Haskell’s $14.98
Probably the best deal is the Bollinger Special Cuvee ($49.99) vs. Total Wine $65.99, Haskell’s $89.99 OUCH!!!
GM Mumm at $19.99! That is almost cheaper than the Mumm sparkling wines from California. Great deal!
Eric that is a really good price. I would buy a bottle of the Mumm and compare it to the Piper. I think you will like both but love the Piper for $10 a bottle.
John thanks for being the only wine person in town promoting good prices and not the over priced shops others do.
