Walla Walla Cabernet Festival Wine Dinner at Doubleback

For $500 you got a vintage tasting on Thursday, a wine seminar on Friday along with this wine dinner and on Saturday the Grand Tasting. Not to mention free transportation to the events. A true value. This was an amazing wine dinner at Doubleback with L’Ecole.

  • 2022 Doubleback Chardonnay – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
Good use of oak with sour apple, minerals, mild spice and pear. Good acidity. While not a Chardonnay I would buy for the price solid overall. (90 pts.)
  • 2023 L’Ecole No. 41 Old Vines Chenin Blanc Upland Vineyard – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley Snipes Mountain
Light with apricot, sour apple, minerals and spice. Clean finish. (90 pts.)
  • 2023 Bledsoe-McDaniels Chenin Blanc Coulée – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola – Amity Hills
Liked this a lot better than the L’Ecole Chenin with more muscle featuring lemon, spice, floral, orange peel and grapefruit. Medium finish and nice acidity. (92 pts.)
  • 2021 L’Ecole No. 41 Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
This is drinking better than anything we had at the seminar today. Dark cherry, dust, spice, plum, minerals and cigar. Excellent. 92 plus (92 pts.)
  • 2021 Bledsoe Family Winery Cabernet Sauvignon – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
A bit tight but tons of potential. Cherry, spices, oak, vanilla, blueberries and earth. A good alternative to bigger Napa wines for 3 times the price (92 pts.)
  • 2021 L’Ecole No. 41 Estate Ferguson Vineyard – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
Excellent with earth, spice, blueberries, cherry, dust and cigar. Long finish. (93 pts.)
