Here are some of my recommendations at the Surdky’s Summer Sale.
French Wines
White
William Fevre “Champs Royeaux” Chablis $18.99
This is a good introduction to French Chardonnay. You will find it less intense of many US Chardonnays and not the heavy oak you find in some. Good minerality and fruit expression.
Reds
Saint Cosme Cotes-du-Rhone $12.99
A 3 Day Wine Review favorite. Nice balance of fruit and earth elements. Every vintage is a solid effort.
Laroque Cabernet Franc Carcassone $8.99
I have sampled this wine 2 times and have one bottle left. Solid for the price point and it has gotten better over a few days.
Spanish
La Rioja Alta “vina alberdi” reserva $17.99
One of my favorite Spanish Bodegas. Always good fruit and made in the classic style.
Marques de Murrieta Reserva $17.99
Great introduction to Rioja wines and a good price.
Alejandro Fernandez Pesquera Tinto $25.99
One of the most famous wines in Spain especially for the price. Heavy decant if trying now or age it for 10 plus. Around 90 point Cellar Tracker Average
White
Burgans Albarino $10.99
Many have enjoyed this at my tastings.
US
Wines of Substance “Cs” Cabernet $11.99
One of my number one recommendations. I personally move 100s of cases of this wine.
Argyle Vintage Brut $19.99
A great US sparking wine. 3 Day Wine Review 90 points
Roederer Estate Brut $17.99
Another good US Sparking Wine.
Australia
d’Arenberg “Footbolt” Shiraz $11.99
A classic producer and great value. 3 Day Wine Review 89 points
Thorn-Clarke “Shotfire” Shiraz $13.99
Great fruit but not over the top.
Rieslings
J J Christoffel Erdener Treppchen Riesling $17.99
See my previous post.
Donnhoff Oberhauser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett $18.99
Donnhoff Estate Riesling $14.99
Great price!
