BOGO’s at Haskell’s used to be good but now hard to find one worth sampling. Well here are two winners.
- 2023 Hartford / Hartford Court Chardonnay Russian River Valley – USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (4/15/2025)
Day 1: About impossible today to get a Chardonnay under $20 with tax but local sale and case purchase coming. Pear, mild oak, sour apple, dust, lemon and a touch of spice. Short to medium finish and nice acidity. Nothing off the charts but great value here. 90 points
Day 2: Better on day 2 with lemon, minerals, dust, pear, sour apple, mild oak, stone and spice. Medium finish. Nice acidity and amazing value. 91+ points
Recommendation: https://winedisruptors.com/wines-promoted/ at a local shop for $19.99 on sale. (91 points) $19.99 with tax
- 2019 Cerbaia Brunello di Montalcino – Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino (4/5/2025)
Haskell’s Grand Tasting: Ok this was really good and might be better day 2 and 3 but did not have that opportunity. At a local shop for $50 so will have to pick up a few. Floral, funk, forest floor, leather, red currants and dried flowers. Very textbook, Old World in style. 93+ (93 points) $54.99 add tax.
