Pinot Noir is the most difficult grape to perfect and is usually up there with Cabernet Sauvignon in price. On the Facebook Group Friends Who Like Wine in the Glass it came up what is a good Pinot under $20.00. While most of the comments were terrible wines (most Facebook advice) I did offer this one. This is from Willamette Valley and continues to impress over 2 days.
- 2017 Boedecker Cellars Pinot Noir Athena – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (12/22/2023)
Day 1: Very nice wine with dust, earth, floral, mushrooms, raspberries, sour strawberries and minerals. When people say there is no Pinot that is great under $20.00 I can now go with this wine as it was $19.99 on WTSO with free shipping. Yeah! 92 points
Day 2: Underbrush, earth, floral, strawberries, raspberries, mild spices and minerals. A solid effort and while not off the charts the price is amazing. 92 points
Day 2.5: Even a bit better. This is amazing for under $20.00. Raspberries, minerals, dust, earth, rose petals, mushrooms, mild spice and sour cherry. Medium finish and nice acidity. 92+ points. (92 points)
