What better way to showcase how overpriced Caymus is by doing a blind taste test between the two. I will be serving both of these blind out of a decanter simply labeled A and B. Instead of putting down tally marks I will have people put on a note their choice into a bag so we don’t influence any voting. The prices I paid in the Twin Cities Market are the following: A dead tie blind tasting.

- 2022 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon 50th Anniversary – USA, California, Napa Valley (8/24/2024)
Oak chip overload along with ripe, dark fruits almost port like here. Sugar along with an artificial smoke element piped into this wine. If you just swallow this wine like water it is pleasant which is what the chemists have designed here but if you hit all those taste buds there is just an awful experience in my mouth. Hard to believe people like this and drink this but I am doing a blind tasting tonight with this vs. Chateau Ste. Michelle Indian Wells Cab which is 1/6 the price. The aftertaste on this lingers for quite a while and really two glasses of this and I am going to have heartburn and/ or a screaming headache. (65 points)
2021 Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon Indian Wells (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley) $12.23 at Haskell’s with the Morell’s Price Match
2021 Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon Indian Wells – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (8/24/2024)
A simple offering with oak chips, dust, cherry, plum and spice. Nothing great here or awful and priced right for under $15.00. (85 points)
