Well it came down to 2 wines this year. A red and a white but it is really not that close. The best value under $25.00 this year is the 2021 Result of a Crush The Unnamed Series for $24.60 shipped to my house. Second place is the 2021 DeLille Cellars Chaleur Estate Blanc (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley) for $24.18 from Sunfish Cellars.
2021 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (12/13/2023) Day 1: I have drank through almost all of Washington and this wine is the best I have had for the money. Better than 17 and while young packs a punch. Rock, blueberries, exotic spices, floral, minerals, black olives, tar and black pepper. This is super complex and long finish. AWESOME! 95 points Day 2: Similar and awesome. Recommendation: My wine of the year for value and almost for overall quality. Well Result of a Crush. Black pepper, plum, dark fruits, spice, tar, black olives and minerals. Long finish and concentrated wine. 94 points Day 3: Strong showing with black pepper, plum, dark fruits, spice, floral and tar. Super complex wine and this rivals so many for much more. 94 points Recommendation: You welcome. Had to buy another case as everyone wanted some. Should have bought 3 more. Black pepper, floral, roasted meats, red currants, blueberries, smoke and tar. Bacon, blueberries, menthol, mild funk. spice and black pepper. This is just an amazing effort. (94 points) 2021 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/26/2023) Day 1: Ok just got a case and everyone loved it so need to buy 2 more for friends and family. This is now slam dunk for wine of the year. This one is off the charts. Funk, dark berries, stone, rose petals, graphite, exotic spices, blueberries and black pepper. Super complex and super long finish. Might be the best value of the last decade for me including the legendary Mr. B. which I sold out! 97 points Day 2: This seems like on of those mystery bottles where they put a top end Reynvaan in the bottle. It is that good. The others excellent but not to this level. Roasted meats, mild funk, exotic spices, graphite, blueberries, dark cherry, black pepper and stone. This tastes amazing. Long finish. 97 points Recommendation: No brainer buy a case. Day 2: Gorgeous wine featuring black pepper, black olives, dust, floral, dark fruits and spices. Medium to long finish. Just amazing stuff. 93+ points Day 3: This is why I do the 3 day wine review and love the doubters that say the wine is not fresh on day 3. Sure for cheap wines you are right but those wines are worth drinking anyway. This is wine of the year candidate and possibly the best of the Unnamed Series Syrah wines. Super complex featuring black olives, mild smoke, tar, black pepper, dark berries, earth, leather and exotic spices. So this bottle seems like something from Red Mountain than the Rocks but that is not a bad thing. Blueberries, spices, minerals, intense floral notes and pepper. Very nice on the pop and pour and expect this to drink well over 3 days. I like it! 93 points Day 3: Good on 2 and 3 and plenty of aging potential on this wine. Really nice fruit combined with black pepper, spice and floral notes. Medium plus finish. 93 points Recommendation: Under $25 no brainer. (93 points) |
